So in March I said I'd post in a month. Well here we are, 3 months later, I'm just like community channel except she says she will post in a week and takes 9 months off :P
Seeing patients has been quite satisfying I have to admit, especially when the same patient comes again and again and actually completes your course of care and they had like 8 3 hour appointments ;p You genuinely meet a lot of cool old people and the tutors are pretty amazing :) nothing like actually applying what you learn eh? they also don't make you look bad in front of the patients when you clearly have no idea what you're doing :P
I am still lost on how to make dentures...mainly because we pretty much get one shot at it and then have to figure it out by ourselves...but on the last day of semester I actually felt really good about the secondary impression I did baically because i had an amazing patient whose alveolar ridge was really good ;p
Outside of Uni I have been participating in dental events mainly and going to 21sts, 22nd's and 23rd birthy parties, makes me feel good that I'm not actually that old in the group ;p I'd say I'm still under the average age which is quite amazing considering in the year above I was about average age ;p. This is an older group :P
So i took apart my computer setup, wireless mouse and keyboard are on top of the wardrobe, monitor on the ground, headphones put away speakers no longer where they were. Laptop is actually super useful when you can move it around since its not connected to a monitor :P typing stuff in bed is quite comfortable!!
I have an exam tomorrow and i've been studying it for a while now, its pretty much a 3rd year version of what I was doing all of last year and then added into it surgery stuff. Seeing teeth getting pulled out is amazing :)
I am so looking forward to going back to Sydney especially after this exam period, its going to be absolutely insane with like 10.5 hours of exams spread over 7 exams.
Luckily I have a group of people I've been studying with every week for one of the subjects so that one has been easier to absorb than it would otherwise have been.
So I haven't been playing games but I've still managed to waste a lot mroe time on reddit haha, i read so much about american politics :P
I have not left the house in about 10 days ;p got to exercise some time...well i guess I'll be walking while going to my exam tomorrow so that counts haha.
Sleeping 10 hours a night is pretty amazing considering i've been getting about 7 hours all semester well 7 or 8 depending if i go to the morning lecture or not ;p I regret not going to one of the lecture, one of the orthodontic ones which I heard was pretty amazing. Aside from that I guess I've made a couple of birthday cards here and there, not really kept in touch with anyone in sydney except family but oh well..
Not sure if i told you all I have my full licence yet. I'm also not looking forward to post exam period where I have to clean everything...so much paper dammmmmmnnnnn
15 minutes is enough prcrastination, whoever reads this is also procrastinating because the only people i know are all in exam period ;p

Once a month!
So the last post was over a month ago and quite a lot has happened since then. First off, Chinese new year. I was in high demand that day ^^ Aunty susan wanted me home for dinner and she made dishes representative of a blissful new year! It had a whole fish, prawns, abalone and a soup which I don't remember. Afterwards I went to Lucy's place and we played ultrastar and celebrated the new year with my new group of friends!!
Over the past month, I've gone there a few times whether it was the blackout at the dental school and we chilled out there or pot luck where everyone brings a dish and we all eat together and play games, it has been good fun and made immersion week really fun :) It also means I have more friends!! I've talked to a lot of people I don't think I would talk to normally through Lucy so I have to say thank you!!
That is not to say I've forgotten about my other friends :) I've gone to sunnybank and also comedy festival and elaine's brithday in the last month. Sunnybank was quite enjoyable, especially when Helen decided that opening the cup would be a good idea, seeing the jelly worms and not seeing them amkes a huge difference when you drink the tea :P Dinner was nice with the soft shell crab and generally good food at vietnamese corner. The only downside was that i touched off twice at sunynbank so I was fined $2.50. This has happened a few times in the last month, most notably yesterday when I was fined $5 gosh I forgot to touch off dammit!!
Last weekend was good despite the weather ruining the opportunity for me to dry my clothes in the sun. First off, gold coast was really fun we went to the casino and went to aunty linda and uncle kim's room to have a look at the view and how it is different to other hotel rooms, it had 2 very comfortable beds ;p We then went for a buffet which was delightful!! After that we went to the casino but I decided to go to the balcony and play games on my mobile phone rather than the pokies, you can't make money from that :P
On sunday we went to elaine's new place and had a really good time :) it was filled with eating pretty much haha. First off pizza lunch delivered!! the customised pizza was pretty awesome ^^ we also decided to get cake and make dinner all of which was quite nice, everyone cooking in the kitchen was excellent camraderie and stuff I supervised yaaaaay!!
After that we went to the comedy and ti was quite enjoyable! I laughed quite a few times and ym favourite sketch was the one where they pretended they were in the car then probably the australian music and the alliteration one!
Following that we could have gone home or gone for milkshake at elaine's. I'm glad we went back for milkshake because it was so good!! Got home about 10 30 and went to bed at a decent time. Uni was quite uneverntful today, quite a boring day to be honest, tomorrow should be alright and wednesday should be excellent ^^
Happy hour was not that amazing because i was behind the counter haha, it was however quite dramatic :P
stay tuned for next month!! (probably be boring and filled with study :P)
boat cruise! get excited!

A new year and back on track
I’ve been looking forward to this
year for over a year now where 2nd year was over and I get to see
patients! Last year was a delay in
graduating but not a complete waste of time.
I did get to go clinic a lot and got to know many second years and also
my fellow repeaters! It was much easier
last year I thought which makes me think that 3rd year is easy…if I
were repeating. I will have to work as
hard as both years combined to be on top of things I think.
So the holidays were not as
memorable as others partially due to them being cut short and me missing out on
the end of the holidays which are usually the best L However duty calls and I have
returned to queensland a month early in prepapration for seeing patients and
the imminent chair shortage.
So the first week I was back we
had a series of lectures and the second week I was back we did a few of the
first appointments on each other and familiarised ourselves with the computer
system and where things were located.
I talked to the new people found
out who failed from last year and chatted to a lot of people throughout the
weeks. Its been quite a good 2 weeks I
think and hopefully it only gets better from here perhaps its time to let go of
games completely and get right into study…I’ll give games a couple more weeks
before cold turkey…deleting games and things which remind me of games such as
skype…I think I will leave dota there.
Bit of stuff happening at home,
mum is going uni, brother is going for gamsat and pharmacy stuff sister is in
her final year of high school! Its going to be a busy year all year. I will be
ready!!

The little things in life
I haven’t blogged in a while but I feel as though a lot of
little things make everyday different.
For example 2 weeks ago I thought of blogging about one single thing I
saw in the day but rather I decided against it and thought I would blog when I
saw a few things. Starting 2 weeks ago,
I came to a realisation which actually made me smile when I saw it and again
when I thought about it. Everyday that I
walked to the dental school I would walk past a church. Perhaps once a month I would walk past the
church and there would be a wedding.
Being part even the tiniest part (being a walkerby) of a couple’s
happiest day of their life made me smile.
Of course walking to the dental school is no easy nor enjoyable task,
going uphill for about 5 minutes doesn’t make anybody happy ;p
Last week there were pretty major renovations where a few
tradespeople came in and removed all the floors and replaced it with
laminate. Now laminate looks like wood
but its like really condensed cardboard and the top there is a sheet that makes
it looks like wood ;p quite ingenious. A
small thing I noticed was that the laminate would last 25 years! So that thing
sheet impersonating wood would last 25 years! That’s amazing!!!
I guess I never really thought about it but the group skype
conversation and whataspp conversation is a small thing that makes me feel
connected to my high school friends. Any
time I want to talk to someone about something, voice an opinoion or whatever I
can jump on there and there will probably be someone on provided it isn’t 2 am
;p. I had the most fun in swotvac the
other day. Leon changed his name to
Thomas Tran so I retaliated by changing mine to leon kiriaev. This prompted ben and Thang to change their
names and we just insulted each other for a good half hour J After a while we stopped not because it
stopped being fun but because we eeded to study or do something else. It was however the most I had laughed in a
long long time.
The final thing I wanted to share was getting small presents
unexpectedly J
So during the holidays Joyce had posted on facebook a question ‘what is my
favourite dental material?’ I guessed correctly and got an unexpected present
which made me smile J
who doesn’t like free chocolate hahaha
Well this summer holiday should be quite enjoyable even
though I only have 2 months, it is the first and last months which are always
fun and the middle one is quite stagnant ;p lets hope it stays that way since
there IS NO MIDDLE MONTH J
I am also looking forward to next year where I’ll get to
know the third year students better and get right back into dentistry, I
actually plan to do bit of study while in Sydney, reading microbiology handout
that walsh made and some immunology.
Even though I do understand a lot I feel that there is still a gap in my
knowledge that I need to fill before I start next year. I will also be looking at Robbin’s pathology
which should be a good bedtime story…even though its about diseases and such :P
passed the year and been going out a few times a week. home is lonelier than I remember. Everyone has their own life now and its quite independent of me which is saddening but at the same time I'm glad. It gives me motivation to find my own way!

Holidays and I want more
So I havn't posted since before the september holidays.
First off I went to west end on the tuesday and got quite a nice meal for a very low price got ice cream and go the core component of my costume for ann's 21st :) I was looking for ward to it (and it didn't disappoint)
So fast forward to the holidays. The party was on saturday and I was basically cleaned up my room on the day got on a plane, jumped on a train and went there, all up about 5 hours of travel that is commitment...it is much less that if i had decided to drive..and i don't have a car ;p So the party was pretty much a huge meet up for high scool peers some of whom I haven't seen for a few years so it was quite nice
I think the party was great because pretty much everyone came in costume, met a couple of new people, had good food, tried new drinks, had a pinyata, got a prize for 3rd best dressed, lots of joking and generally having a great time!
I got a ride with Helene on the way home and she told me that the car was about 9 months old...but still had the new car smell..amazing!
So the next day I don't remember being too interesting, mainly catching upw ith family and helping around the house :)
The day after mum took me out to lunch and i remember how good the food is in sydney but apparently there is some good food in brisbane which is quite cheap (more on the gold coast as aunty veronica told me a couple of weeks ago) The next couple of days were quite boring, just chopping down banana tree, mowing the lawn and backyard, blowing leaves around etc
Wednesday was a bit fo a family get together and we got crab at a resturant ^^ it was quite nice from memory but dad says that they cooked it wrong...it was so so much better than any crab i had in brisbane though :P
The next day I would like to call the day of 3 dinners. First off I decided to go to UNSW because I have barely been there or looked around the place or anything. I figured I would bump into enough people so I told about 7 or 8 poeple I was coming. I caught the train with hanson to UNSW and he had to go to class so I walked around for about 5 minutes orientating myself finding a map and lisa texted. I met up with her at the law library and we went to roundhouse for lunch (woke at 8 30 caught 9 30 train, got to uni at 11 lunch at 11 30) insane it takes 3 hours from waking up to getting to where i want to be at uni...uq takes 45 minutes form waking up to being where i want to be, so much difference.
From there lisa had a class so i decided to go exploring around, it was about 10 minutes before ben called me after his test and i met up with him. we were determined to go find people but didn't find tony or leon. we went into a staff only part and when we heard the door open we quickly left nad spoke broken mandarin as we went ;p After this, we managed to bump into minh chau and michael. from there we went to roundbhuose again and got wedges.
Ann decided to skip a lecture and join us for an hour(she invited me to gold class yay), hanson came by after his tutes and tram even dropping by for a quick hello before heading off with her law buddies for a presentation.
so I had 1.5 lunches and a breakfast so far. At about 3pm hanson suggested a macca's run and we went to the bus stop and kind of abandoned the idea of a macca's run in favour of going home. On the bus Ben was being sly and checked out a girl and said in our broken mandarin, not bad. I was trying to contain my laughter because she could probably understnad mandarin ;p
Getting home took about 2 hours because there was little delay etc, got picked up from the station etc. So we decided on skype that we would go for dinner and drinks (lemon lime bitters yeahhhhh) At 6pm when i had planned to go for dinner, there was only 1 other person up for it in the skype conversation so it didn't happen. I had dinner at home and jumped back on skype and the conversation was raging with dinner options :P I called up a few people and we had a group of 6 and went to a steakhouse. I had the worse calamari in my life it was crumvbed and tasted like bread....i understand why it is a STEAKhouse now :P That was my second dinner. After that we went our separate ways and it was about 9 30 at this stage, i dropped off a few people home and went to allen's house as we had arranged for pizza.
I went in and got him and we walked tot he pizza place. It was quite empty as you can imagine at 10 30 pm we ordered our pizzas and ate while catching up, not too much had changed in the last couple of months aside from allen reaching president of the unibuds association :)
he also planned to pick me up from my place and drive to uni! that saved me about an hour of travelling :) we got to uni and he hung out with me for about half an hour before he went to class (since he was late already he decided to skip a lecture-i make people skip lectures ;p). I met up with hanson and minh chau after exploring for a while and they took me to another on campus resturant called the white house based on the colour scheme of the house ;p
we got wedges adn they gave us free pizza yayayayayya, also i had some cider. Afterward I went exploring again and went to the abs buiilding where i met david and allen. we chatted and decided to go grab lunch. david however was pulled away from other friends he had promised to have lunch with earlier and I lisa didn't want to join allena dn i and would rather we joined her, wasn't going to happen ;p
we decided on going to a thai place and the pad thai (signature dish) was missing the sauce. I didn't realise because I hadn't had it before but that made sense afterwards ;p After that we went for ice cream at passionflower and they only cahrge another dollar to put the ice cream in a waffle basket ^^ I saw allen's nibuds assocaition place and he left me after that. I continued to explore the uni fro about an hour and jumped into a few lecture theatres to check out if they were better...some were some weren't (newer ones were way cool) I met up with tony and ben to go for dinner with ann and tram. chun texted me back and we joined us for dinner yay!
we met outside the movie cinema before heading off to din thai fung. didn't have time for a long drawn out meal so had the yum cha style meal and it was quite deleicious :) I had wanted to go there since dental convention and it happened yayyy!!
Afterwards we went to the movie and got our tickets and headed up to the gold class section, it was a completely different atmosphere gosh I felt sophisticated but certainly didn't look it :P
the movie was quite good but the novelty and the seats and tables and completely different atmosphere i felt was worth it, made the movie ruby sparks a nicer experience.
went to a board game place and had a tonne of fun we oprdered some igloo thing and there was ice cie cream some strawberry sauce and fruit. it was quite nice before thw hole thing melted ;p we played jenga and i had a blast!! at about 10pm though we had to go home as ann and tram had concerned parents ;p
when we walked out it was the first time I had seen rain in about 3 months and i didn't like it ;p.
The last day was saturday and I helped dad out with some guttering nad laundry spin thing problems and we got everything done yay! bought concrete, guttering downpipes and stuff for christmas time when i come back :)
i woke up and got a text from jetstar delaying my flgiht by an hour. it didn't matter just had to tell aunty sisana dna duncle mark. the plane hourney was quite interesting because the guy netx to me was talking tot he guy diagonal from me and they converstaion was interesting :) yay to no boring flight ^^
brisbane airport has changed a bit so getting picked up was annoying but id di get picked up in the end. my room was as i left it and it has taken a while to get used to brisbane again...i'm not even sure i'm used to it yet even after 4 exams ;p there is only 2 assessments left in the semseter before the final!
In brisbane, ben helen and i went to sunnybank for lunch once and afterwards we went to a dessert place which was quite nice :) Jenny's birthday was a sleepover, elaine came and grabbed blankets and pillows form me :P
had mooncakes, and aunty susan is getting much better now, she has more energy and gets tired slower which is excellent!!
so we have a presentation tomorrow and it is impromtu so i am procrastinating of course :)

Looking after myself
This last 4 days has been quite different. On monday afternoon aunty susan couldn't get out of bed and was admitted to hospital.
on monday there wasn't much to note i got sushi for lunch and realised i don't like sushi as much as i used to. it was ok but i think i used to like it much more because the flavours were new. they were still asian but new. then i went to japan where the flavours are so much better :P
tuesday had exam, got a few M&M's for fnishing early. For some reason this block exam doesn't stress me anymore, quite sure i did well. had a pie and wedges for lunch, quite good actually. sat at wordsmith and chatted to ram, anastasia, charlie, jeremy, benson and hiroshi :P
wednesday - brought in pasta i made day before, actually struggled in preclinic farrrrr. gotta stop being cocky but the good news is everyone else struggled...if you can interpret that as good news :P. helped sonya in pros clinic and that actually took the full 3 hours. that was surprising didn't think that happened ;p she was the last one out.
on thursday i went in and helped chris first and his 3 hours appointment was done in 1.5 hours :P helped sonya for the next 1.5 hours and her patient came in early hehehe but it was a lovely restoration in the end so it was a good ending.
I had subway one day do not remember which one...it was quite forgettable probably on thursday
today i was invited to a birthday and it was quite nice, talked to a few second years, had a nice meal and got free cupcake! it was good as well :P
anyway that's it for this week, been quite eventful to be honest, unlike last week where nothing happened at all :P

on thursday i went in and helped chris first and his 3 hours appointment was done in 1.5 hours :P helped sonya for the next 1.5 hours and her patient came in early hehehe but it was a lovely restoration in the end so it was a good ending.

Cake are synonymous with birthdays
Its been a while since I last posted and a few things have popped up, nothing that major. Firstly Uni, today had a competency test, so easy this time around haha :)
father's day gave dad a call, much shorter than calling mum ;p It looks like things are going well at home :)
found out i have to vote today which is not a nice surprise, I will have to call them and confirm what I have to do...
anyway, yesterday went to Grance to give sonya card and present! It was really quite amusing writing Elaine and Jenny's birthday Wishes for them hahahahaha
today ran around to get cake and then get card to dental school before doing competency
had cake and went to lecture, boooooooring lecture :P
tomorrow should be somewhat hectic :P gotta call electoral commison
atm, I'm calling jetstar and it is taking a while

When you don't know what's going on, just make comments that are always right :)
With every big bold statement like that there has to be a story right? So, today while I was in clinic 5, Dr Smith asked cameron what the setting time for AHplus...or was it ADplus I don't remember the material. Anyway cameron said not long at all which is quite true for most chemically set dental materials where there are 2 setting times. However this was just plain wrong and Dr Smith made it very obvious haha! the answer was 24 hours which is actually a long time :P
the other trigger for that statement is from a youtube video I saw where a guy hired bodyguards, 'papparazzi', photographers and dressed up like a celebrity. This prompted a lot of people wanting a photo and when asked by teh cameraman whether they knew who he was they just said oh latest spiderman movie, if they listened to his music, they heard his FIRST single and it was good :P
On a more personal level, i do this all the time :) No recent examples come to mind but generally when trying to break into a coversation or i zoned out it happens :D I don't know but I have been having afternoon naps and gosh they are satisfying...especailly when you dose for 2 hours :P

Lets get serious
There haven't been any of the usual wake up calls - failing a test, failing a subject, repeating or anything which has really prompted this sudden call to study. I suppose it has been since I failed but nevertheless, I will learn everything!
The last couple of weeks have been very enjoyable :) Happy hour was quite good, getting free/very cheap drinks is always good hahaha friends manning the counter ftw!! nice chatting and catching up :)
Emma's housewarming was quite fun as well but I had a bit to drink so I stayed over. The apartment was very spectacular especially at dawn when i was awoken from the sunlight :P
Ekka holiday was really really fun! We baked a cheesecake went shopping and had yummy food :) The process of making the cheesecake took much longer than anticipated with elaine and sonya wanting to taste all the ingredients before they had been mixed hhahaa cream cheese and processed tim tams do sure taste good :P Had pasta, cheesecake, strawberries dipped in dark chocolate, waffles and biscuits :) did not manage to get the cards done but oh well. I want to go shopping for artsy stuff because that is always fun!
Dental dinner was also fun! Even thought it was a bit pricey the photographers were much better :) the 'photobooth' was excellent! Videos were much more relatable and in general a nice night! There were a few highlights I though, one was the golf course, hitting about 25 gold balls into the driving range was good :) sore arm the next day though, a good experience. Another was getting my revenge on David from first year, lets just leave it at that :P
So that was a few days ago. I had a rough night sleep so today I was quite tired, had some coffee, that stuff keeps you awake doesn't it haha.
I've been reading notes for one of the 2 really hard subjects next year, hope I can finish them ^^ a brief browse anyway!
Mum might be going to uni! how exciting, she mgiht graduate at the same time as me hahaha and before jennifer :P

Polishing up resume
So after a chat with mum on sunday, I decided that what my resume lacked was not what I had achieved in high school or what I was doing right now, but rather some referees. So I have decided to make it more than 1 page haha. The extra page I am addding includes some of the thing I did in High school but I didn't deem it good enough to put on the resume such as work experience and also some references (supervisors yay!) So with this newfound power I will go part time job hunting paid or unpaid doesn't matter(as long as it is close) :P
I finished the electronic practicals for microbiology and did pretty well..stuffed one of them up but oh well! I blame the haemolysis...it did not read correctly.
must finish my letter been putting it off for far far too long :P
I think i also need to drink more water...hmmmm

donating blood
Red cross has a system where they call you and ask if you would like to book an appointment to donate blood. Being the good persopn that i am, i fell for the trap, not only did i fall for it i followed through and gave them my blood in exchange for strawberry milk, sandwich and some fruit salad. I'm a reverse vampire!
today i went in and assisted for an hour and a half before ehading out to donate blood. got a call from french emabssy for elaine and told her about it.
Also looks like we are going to dent dinner if we can manage to get seats ^^ very randomly helen wants to go! played fruit ninja with ben...i'm terrible at that game haha

Needing inspiration
Well I sort of had another 6 hour day today but it was at the dental school so I had an idea what was going on :) It was not that bad especially since I didn't have to do anything in the 3 hour pros session. The pre clinic session was quite intense because for the life of me I couldn't shape one of the lateral incisor composites correctly...the wedge I put in wasn't tight enough so the matrix kept slipping off. I did get it all signed in the end but its not my best work haha.
I need to get inspired to study something for next year, whether it be pathology or perio I am not too sure now, I think all I can learn is the rote learning componenet so the names of diseases and what they do etc. As for specificis I think it will be quite dodgy if i learn it all now since there is no chance I will remember it next year...they are specifics gosh!
If I think of it like that then I will look at everything with a broad overview rather than learning everything. memorising is always fun, it trains my brain a bit.
Need to exercise as well, inspiration required for that as well but that is secondary to acadmic

DENTAL DINNER
Dental Dinner, haven't really given it a second thought until this semester (since it is this semester). As much as I want to go (kinda ambivalent), I would much rather go for a nice dinner at ARIA which is a place on eagle street. should be fun and cheaper hahaha

Hiatus
It has been over a month since I last blogged and that is due to the holidays :). This year's holidays were especially fun because of the ADSA Convention to Sydney. It was the highlight of the holidays because not only was it a lot of fun but it got me remotivated in doing dentistry, all the challenges that I'll face, the people I'll meet, opportunities which I will be given and all the organisations which I will interact with.
It has given me a different perspective of dentistry, more than just a job, its becoming a life choice which I will be very happy with! I would have to say the most surprising thing about the lectures was that I found out how much I might enjoy working with kids! I'm not sure exactly where it will go but it looks like building a rapport with the kids is much more rewarding and fun than building a rapport with the parents :P.
One thing that i'll remember for some time is how the paediatric dentist taught us a little trick he uses to get the kids completely comfortable in the chair. At the first appointment he'll tell the child to press their nose which makes the chair go down. When the child stops pressing their nose then you know they are comfortable! This makes them sit in the chair much more easily and you build a positive experience for the next time!
Aside from the dental convention, I had a couple of dinner, friends over a few times and unfortunately no throwing chun in the pool, as much fun as that would have been :P. People are really busy nowadays perhaps its time to boycott the every 2/3 week party. Summer will be much more fun as it always is :).
This semester I have a few things planned. I will work towards getting a DA job which means getting references from a few of the tutors, I have 3 in mind so that should be alright. Then I have to apply for some jobs again...there are so few though I hope I can get one.
In the mean time I'm going to learn DENT3062 according to the booklets as well as Perio(not completely sure about course code). I think I'll try to learn chinese better from the internet :) seems like a good way to learn it especially since my internet has been upgraded to 25gb and it costs the same how dodgy is telstra not telling use about free upgrades?
Last friday was sports day and instead of going to play sports, we decided to go watch batman dark knight rises. paid $5.50 and saw it in Brisbane's equivalent to IMAX, so a bigger screen. I enjoyed the movie while I watched it but coming out of the theatre I don't really remember much of the movie ;p I remembered I wanted The Bat! Went to ben's place and chilled there for a bit before going to Ahmets because I've wanted to try it. The drink and dinner were quite nice but a little bit pricey at 28 dollars.
Last weekend I read through lots of the ADA stuff, did my CPR course and did my washing/ironing. Seems like an alright weekend!
So it all starts this week! LETS GO

Fences
Today I went for a walk because I hadn't been out for a while. Whiles walking around, I noticed that half the houses don't actually have gates and of those half of those don't even have a proper fence...a low stone wall doesn't count (50cm off the ground who are you going to stop? gnomes from escaping?). I just walked until the end of the bike track and made my way back on the road until i saw a bus. I then walked around some more and got a golden gay time. delicious :) I also saw a cafe which seems to sell cheap sandiwches about 3 bucks a sanwich, best price i'm gonna get anywhere nearby so i will try it sometime soon.
This random walk reminds me of a time in first year when i got hopelessly lost because I had caught the wrong bus (think walking 40 minutes to get home when it would take 40 minutes to walk home from uni). There were so many nice people I met along the way from the random lady who offered me help byb finding directions on her smart phone to the other random people who would ask if i was lost while i was walking by (i didn't realise it was that obvious...either that or no one walks around where they live hahaha). I got back feeling really refreshed! It was a similar feeling when I got back from ym 45 minute walk as well hahahaha might have been the ice cream and lipton ice tea talking though :P I also know where to get toileteries now if i ever need 1 bar of soap instead of woolworth's 4 bars of soap. at a dollar a bar of soap its an alright price!
Almost finished reading the relevant parts of the textbook and have to go over my notes again (learn all the things which I had written down to learn from the textbook which were in the past exam that i had no idea about). If all goes well I should be alright!
Jennifer texted me today telling me she made prefect. Good on her...except I don't know what being prefect does for you haha.

Almost finished my notes
So from ther 34 lectures i'm up to lecture number 29 yay! should be able to finish it today I think. The renal lecture were so hard to get through wow I was surprised at them...no wonder i fell asleep in class there is too much information that he stressed. Luckily the fourth lecture was already pretty much covered in the last 3 and the pharmacology one was pretty much the same as arugarumamd's lecture.
It was quite difficult to start making all the notes (made about half of them before midsem) becasue its been such miserable weather and reading my notes is hard enough without having to type them up as well...
I have barely left the house since holidays started perhaps I will go for a jog or something sometime or other...how vague is that!
It been quite cold so I've bene wearing 2 jumpers and socks;p not up to the stage where I need 2 jumpers and a jacket with 2 pairs of pants and socks while under a blanket with the heater on hahaha lets hope it doens't come to that!
So the plan for the next 12 days before the exam is to go through past papers and then read the textbook before making a final summary of the notes I've made. Not looking forward to going over 30+ pages (at 30 right now).
I heard it was really cold and the winds were insane in sydney! hope everyone is well!

End of Semester
The semester ended with 2 lectures which were quite boring to be honest. I came home and started cleaning my room in preparation for the study that will be coming! Firstly get rid of everything which isn't DENT2052 which is most things on the table due to case analysis.
This week has been raining and it is going to continue into the weekend which is fine because I am in no rush to do my washing anyway.
Yesterday I went to clinic and assisted a chris, sonya and elaine (another elaine) and it turns out she lives about 2 minutes walk from me! excellent ;p she's repeating third year so we have something in common hahaha
Winter is here and I have to wear jackets and jumpers, its troublesome but nowhere near as bad as sydney I guess. It doesn't feel like end of sesmeter, I only realised it was so close a couple of days ago when Dayea said 'cya next semester'. I was like what OH RIGHT, its last week and we have different finals to sit thus next sem.
Anyway I've been so lax with my blog posting because it is representattive of how interesting the year has been so far. half a year flew so fast! so much faster than last year hahahahaha, not too worried about assessments this year which is always awesome!

Spontaneity
Lets start from yesterday, had to wake up early to get to the lecture. After the lectures I went to the dental school to have a chat to a course co ordinator but found out today she's on sick leave until the 8th of june so can't talk to her about the misplacement of my preclinic mark but she said that I can just get it remarked and not have to do another exam so I think it will be alright.
There was a spontaneous dinner that elaine wanted before the end of sem. It was raining though so i think that's why elaine didn't end up showing up hahaha. so we had a nice dinner and dessert at jojo's.
i downloaded and won diablo...not that hard actually, now i'm satisfied :D
did my washing today :D, it was quite cold but luckily it all dried!
studying case analysis.

Thursdays really are the highlight of the week!
Ever since I've started assisting, thursdays have turned from being absolutely boring to the highlight of the week! Its the day which I feel I am proactively doing something :D. Today was good for a number of reasons which I'll go into shortly. I woke up initially not really wanting to get out of bed because it was quite cloudy but surprisingly warm. I convinced myself to get up and I'm glad I did.
I got to the dental school ready to assist when lo and behold there are about 5 people free for the first hour so Dr Smith (mostly in her group) decides to give a couple of demonstrations instead of letting everyone just stand around. So the first thing she needs is a volunteer but she can't use a chair which is going to be used soon after so we go into the back room. I am picked as the volunteer and realise how important local anaesthetic is in dental treatment!
The first thing she did was demonstrate how to insert ginigval retraction cord because she has seen lots of people doing it wrong so she inserts it and it is quite uncomfortable but oh well, I survive. Next she shows how to do shade guides properly and she puts some composite on the tooth to demonstrate that you can show the patient what it will look like with a sort of roughly done composite veneer on the surface of the tooth -something you don't learn in preclinic. The was absolutely painless.
The lsat thing she did was demonstrate how to put on a rubber dam using a wingless clamp. That was quite painful because my second molar didn't have much of an undercut so she put it subginigvally...ouch. She also flossed so that the ligatures went subginigival...all the while I had a mirror so I could see what was causing my pain as well as feeling it. I did learn through that experience though :D
The second part of clinic was quite fun because I learnt how to position the suction better...even though the rubber dam kept making horrendous noises. The patient also complimented our teamwork (sonya and I) which is always nice!
After that I left because I had to go to lunch with Ben and Helen at Sunnybank. We firstly went to get a drink at a cafe. It was really nice! While we were in there we saw a mobile prosthetist van! Haha only dental students can derive fun from something like that!
We then went for ramen and it was as good as i remembered :D We couldn't have any dessert because we were running short on time but we were quite full anyway...i think i fell asleep on the bus, Luckily i got off where i needed to.
The last thing we I helped aunty susan work out how to use google for about 2 hours while she did some computer exercises, in that time i was helping i watched masterchef and glee! two shows I have been neglecting. It was the final episode for the season for glee and masterchef isn't as exciting as it is in alter episodes but nonetheless, it helps you build a rapport with the contestants so i suppose that is alright. The first person to beat a celebrity chef will become the favourite!!
So today was a good day and I'm going to end it on a high note :D good night!

Masterchef is back
Yay this means that in like 10 weeks i can start watching cos that's when it gets interesting and food looks amazing :D at the moment it doesn't look so good....i mean thats not to say i wouldn't eat it...its just I don't think its tv worthy ;p This past couple of days have been quite warm I have found which is quite good because it means i can get up quicker :D
motivation levels have been going down this sem as I realise I have like 2 tests left for the semester, in a month I'll be back in Sydney!
Had a really long lab session and got a freee boost bar :D for not breaking a lead oh yeahhhhh. Also found some bubble wrap which helped me get through the session.
Preclinic was disappointing cos my drilling mark wasn't up....not sure why gotta chase that up. I also found mold on my natural teeth...apparently a few people had it so that is very strange... oh well almost finished the exercises
oh well time to do some respiratory system. this weekend i'll study 2062 only 7 lectures how hard can that be?
